CASA IN GRAN MADRE

APARTMENT IN TURIN – ITALY. SQM. 75

Project team: Walter Camagna, Massimiliano Camoletto, Andrea Marcante
Photographer: Emilio Conti

The project is the renovation of an apartment at the first floor of an early last century building, with structure combining vertical masonry and brick vaults.

Aim of this intervention was to incorporate the balcony, overlooking the little courtyard, thus covered with a metal-glass structure, with the three rooms of the existing apartment . The original traditional flat was then transformed in a spacious loft with flexible day and night area.

The living area is organized around the bathroom, a sort of pivoting box standing out in the true centre of a big space, with its glass and painted steel structure. The Room with in-suite bathroom is separated in the old part of the building.

The permeability of spaces and the play of light reflections, produced by the use of glass elements, is visible also from the exterior: the red structural beams create a sort of dynamism in the parallel plans that characterize the project.
